Earnie Shavers Himself Taught Me This Workout

 
At The Pit, we pride ourselves on hard-core, old-school training, but we keep it very cutting edge and effective.  We use fighting techniques, as well as our strength and conditioning exercises all have a very have a very hard-core and old-school philosophy, it is is all very battle-tested, and effective.
 
When one of the hardest punchers in boxing history what's Ernie Shavers, after their fight, Muhammad Ali said he was the hardest puncher he had ever faced. I was fortunate enough to have a couple of conversations with Mr. shavers, and I asked them what he attributed to his punching power.  He told me he thought it was a combination of engaging the hips, a lot of heavy bag work and using a sledgehammer on a tire.  Since we were already engaging our hips, and doing a lot of heavy bag work, I went out and got a sledgehammer and some truck tires immediately and added these great workouts into our training regiment.  They have been a mainstay of our training regimen ever since
 
Not only does the sledgehammer work out to give you great punching power the core, and even the hands and wrists benefit from this tremendous old-school time tested workout, that will never go out of style…
