Ducks Can't Throw Left Hooks...😢

My wife and I were driving home from the gym Monday evening, and look like there was some commotion a few car lengths in front of us, we happen to see a duck in the middle of the road and it look like it was going to get hit by a car. Being the animal lovers that we are, we pulled over to the side very quickly and got out of our car, and started running toward the ducks because it looked like they were about to get hit by a car. We stopped the traffic going both ways, another couple got out of their car to help us as well, Most of the people just looked at us like we were crazy. We were able to finally stop the traffic round up the ducks and get them off of the busy street.
Once we got them off of the main street, we tried to herd them towards the creek, which was a few hundred feet away. That might not seem like a lot, but it was very hard to herd these ducks because they were very scared of us and were very unsure of their surroundings. We found out later these ducks were domestic ducks, and they had been dropped off for some strange reason.  My wife and I were very upset because we knew how frightened these ducks were, they had no idea what was going on, and you can tell they were all panicking and that upset myself and my wife very much.
After about an hour and 15 minutes, we got the ducks to a place where we thought they could spend the night; by this time, it was dark. We left the ducks there, hoping they would be OK.
You might be wondering what the heck does this have to do with self-defense. In fact, you probably think that I've lost my mind trying to compare this duck story with some kind of self-defense parable.  It is a good self-defense comparison for a few reasons. Number one some terrible and evil people have no problem harming others, as proven by the fact that some evil sick people chop these ducks off when they knew very well that they would probably end up dead (I might be exaggerating just a little bit, that's probably because I'm such a fanatical animal lover, so that is clouding my perception of these people).  Another thing that made me compare this to self-defense is realizing how vulnerable those ducks were. Ducks, like people who never trained in martial arts, are very susceptible to predators.  The predators that the ducks would have to worry about would be coyotes, raccoons, and some predatory birds. As humans, we have to worry about such predators as rapists, murderers, robbers, and other violent offenders. It made me realize I don't want myself or any of my community to be vulnerable to evil and violent human predators.  And that's where martial arts comes in ....it turns Victims into victors.
The next morning on my way to the gym, I stopped by the area where we dropped off the ducks, and there was no sign of them; there were some feathers like maybe there was a fight, but no sign of the ducks. That evening when we got off work, we spent about an hour looking around the creek and in the bush for those ducks, but we never saw them. I hope those seven ducks made it, I hope they’re uninjured and happy.
