Hammer Blow vs The Fist

The hammer blow is a mainstay for Kajukenbo, and it has also been proven to be a very effective technique in the street, and even in the highest level of MMA, the UFC. The hammer below has many advantages to the fist, mainly it is a more durable weapon when striking a solid target such as the head or other solid body parts. But I feel the fist has many advantages as well, mainly the power that can be generated. I feel the fist is also much more versatile in its trajectory while attacking your opponent/attacker.

So with that said, I feel both can be very effective in the street, and for martial artists who insist that one is better than the other, or one is inferior, please realize that there is a place for both of these great weapons in the street and in the cage.
