We see a lot of "celebrity boxing matches". It used to be non-boxing celebrities, fighting each other, and more recently you see a lot of celebrity MMA fighters against celebrity boxers. Or even Youtubers versus MMA fighters with boxing rules, or even older, retired boxers versus young Youtubers. It's never a question of. Why are they taking place, because we know for a fact, it's about money and relevance. I just want to go a little deeper, and maybe clear some things up.
Let's start with the older fighters with big names, what is the attraction there? They do this in MMA, boxing, and kickboxing. I have nothing but huge respect for these old warriors. They made it to the top of their food chain, they showed great heart and skill, but now they're old, and no matter how you dress that up in a promotion, there's still, two old guys fighting like two old guys. It's kind of like a beautiful woman that was a swimsuit model, no matter what accolades she achieved when she was younger in a swimsuit, when she gets older, does anybody really wanna see her in a swimsuit anymore? I feel the same for old, retired warriors, relax and enjoy this phase of your life. I honestly don't see the attraction at all.
We've also seen older boxers, taking on older MMA fighters, but for some reason it's always under boxing rules. I understand that boxing is part of an MMA fighter's repertoire, and takedowns, and submissions are not part of a boxers repertoire, but at the end of the day, it's never a fair fight, because an MMA fighters boxing is never up to the level of a true boxers boxing. It would kind of be like a sprinter versus a baseball player. Baseball player has a sprint, just like a sprinter does, but they also throw, field, and that, so, to be honest an MMA fighter versus a boxer would be the same thing as a sprinter challenging a baseball player to a baseball game. As you can see, even though they both do sprint, it's still not a fair match. Well, maybe since the baseball player does have to run bases, maybe the sprinter could challenge the baseball player to 100 yards sprint. Do you think José Canseco could beat Husain Bolt in 100 yard dash? Basically, I think that's a good comparison. A sprinter would do miserably if he challenged a baseball player to a baseball game, and a baseball player would be at a severe disadvantage if he challenged a sprinter to 100 yard dash. That is exactly what happens when an MMA fighter and a boxer compete in a boxing match. I seriously do not understand what the attraction is for the fans. I understand for the competitors, it's all about relevance and money, but why are the fans so interested in watching two people from different sports compete? A football player has to tackle his adversary to the ground; should we have an Olympic wrestler challenge an NFL football player to a wrestling match?
So basically what I'm trying to say is an MMA fighter has about as much boxing skill as a baseball player has sprinting skill, and if they challenge someone who is at the top of the game is such a specialty, it's a very unfair contest. And if too old as fuck guys Try to fight each other in whichever genre, people just don't want to see it, like I said, it's about as enticing as watching a 75-year-old stripper, they probably wanted to watch her 45 years ago, but as for today, not as much. Fighting is a young man's sport just like stripping is a young woman's activity. Let's keep it that way.
