Meditate For A Healthier, Happier, More Peaceful Life

Uncategorized Apr 04, 2023

In martial arts, the words mind, body, and spirit are used a lot together. I've been training martial arts for over 50 years, and I get a lot more mind and body than I do spirit in my fights. In my training, however, I find it is much more body and spirit, heavy, light on the mind. I feel that going to church, talking to God, or praying is very heavy, spiritually, not very much mind or body. I feel all three of those are equally important if you want to live a happy and healthy life.
Health is the most important of the three conditions. Simply because without health, we would be dead and then this would be a moot point. With that said, without a well-working mind, you're gonna make some terrible decisions, and have a not-very-fulfilling life. The mind is very important. Happiness, and a sense of fulfillment, inner peace, integrity, and a good moral compass are all very important qualities to have as well.
I think keeping all three of these working cohesively is very important. And I also think it is very important to not only proactively but also actively exercise your mind and your body and your spirit, and the best way to do that while working them all simultaneously would be meditating. Meditating, especially transcendental. Meditation has been studied medically and proven to be not only great for your spiritual wellness and your mindful calmness, it is also a very physically healthy thing to do while it helps with real medical physical conditions. There are many different types of meditation, and I do move around a little bit, the large majority of my meditation is transcendental meditation.

Transcendental Meditation is done twice a day, for 20 minutes each time. All you need is a place to sit, making sure it's not behind the wheel of a car while you're driving. Quiet is best, however, I've meditated with a lot of noise in the background, sometimes you have no choice. Transcendental meditation also involves a mantra, which is a word or sound repeated throughout the meditation Most towns have licensed, transcendental, meditation centers, or at least private instructors.

I have been actively and consistently meditating since I was 16 years old. I went to a Transcendental Meditation course because my mother thought I needed to relax. I was too high strong. It has made my life so much better. I can always tell when I have missed a meditation or two because I feel much more stressed out and not nearly as at peace as I am when I am not missing my meditations. Not only does meditating feel so good, it also gives you a calm inner peace at last throughout the day. I have relied heavily on meditating when I was under a lot of stress in the hospital, before a fight in the dresser room, or sometimes when I was just stressed out at work. Meditating would always put me in a better mood. Meditating regularly also makes you think a lot clearer react, a lot faster and keep a much better mood throughout the day.

With all, that's numerous medical, spiritual, and mental benefits, I highly recommend everyone learn how to meditate. I strongly suggest you look into learning how to meditate or try to find a transcendental meditation school or person in your area and take a class. It is a great investment in your health, all three of them, mental, physical, and spiritual. It's a great trifecta and a great way to live a better life.
