When Cowards Imitate Heros
My wife and I were walking downtown San Luis Obispo, California. It's a very mellow college town, but there are good stores and restaurants. Being a college town and having some good businesses in the area, I consider it upper middle class. I'd say the majority of the young man who grew up in that town, had probably never been in a fight in their life. I'm walking down the street and I see a group of very angry people, they're yelling and stomping like young children throwing a fit. But they also seem very visceral, like what they are yelling about, means a lot to them, it's almost like, a combination of losing their favorite toy, or pouting because mommy won't let them go outside and play.
When they start getting closer to my wife and I, I realize they're holding signs and flags. They were Palestine flags, and they were yelling “free Palestine”. They were yelling like they were angry, but like angry like it was happening to them or their family members. There was a visceral feeling of their screaming free Palestine. Like I said, they seem to be so committed and visceral about this topic, it was almost like someone Was killing a parent's child in front of them. Their screaming was so passionate and real. Then I thought, in all reality, it's easy to appear loyal, passionate, caring from 10,000 miles away, and out of harms way. So I'm wondering if they are really so passionate about freeing Palestine, we have an airport about 3 miles away, why aren't those people, who are so willing to portray themselves as caring and giving, and brave, not willing to go 3 miles to get on a plane, to go fight for Palestine.
That's when I finally admitted to myself that these people don't really give a flying fuck about freeing Palestine. These people who appear to be so passionate about free Palestine are really just cowards who are posing so that people around them will think that they are virtuous and heroes for the cause, but in reality, they're only heroes walking down the safe quiet peaceful Street of San Luis Obispo. While chaos and war go on overseas, these cowards hide behind signs and flags, pretending that they themselves are the warriors, when in reality they're just phony cowards who wanna look down their nose that other people Who aren't walking around yelling, screaming, inconveniencing people who are just trying to live their lives. A lot of people are not that tuned into what's going on in Palestine or other physical and social issues that are going on halfway around the world. A lot of people are too busy, trying to make enough money to pay their rent and feed their family, they don't have the luxury of having mommy and daddy pay for their housing and food and car, and the ability to spend their time screaming at hard-working Americans about a cause that they're pretending to care about.
The bottom line is this if somebody is attacking a parent's child, that parent would run as fast as they could to protect their child from harm. Whether that meant sprinting, driving, or even getting in a plane and flying halfway across the world. Someone who really cares that much will do anything to protect those they care about not carrying a sign, stomping your feet and screaming like a little baby please don't hurt my child, no parent would do that, and no one who really cared. So when I see people protesting about all these terrible injustices sitting in front of a street blocking traffic where someone might be rushing their baby to the emergency room because they can't breathe, but now they're stuck in an hour long traffic jam because 12 bratty kids, who have never worked a day in their life, never fought for anything, are sitting down in the middle of a freeway pretending they care about a war that's happening 10,000 miles away from the safety of San Luis Obispo California. These protesters are the worst kind of American. They're willing to inconvenience, or even harm other people to pretend to care about an issue that they don't really, it's all optics, and bullshit.
And since it's pretty obvious, they're not willing to fight and die for these causes that they pretend to care so very much about. We know they'll never and put themselves in harms way to protect these people that they are pretending to care so much about. My biggest problem with them isn't their phoniness or their cowardliness, it is the fact that they are so willing to inconvenience, or even put in harms way normal hard-working people. Wouldn't you think that people have places they have to go, sometimes emergencies, these entitled cowards have no thought for anyone else. We know for a fact, they don't really give a shit about anyone in Palestine, that's why they're here not there, but it's also obvious they don't give a shit about their neighbors, because they're so willing to, inconvenience, and even put their neighbors in harm's way.
Here's my message. If you truly are so passionate about your cause, then go and physically fight for it. Whether your cause is protecting your family from an attack, saving Palestine, or protecting your country. if these terrible things are happening, respect whatever you believe in if you're willing to fight for it. And if you are not willing to fight and die, for this cause, that tells me that number one you don't really care that much in the first place, or number two you do care that much, but you're a fucking coward so you're not gonna do anything about it. Are you?
